Go Newfoundland!!!

Our Canadian men, our Newfoundlanders, won the curling gold medal today in Turino, Italy. I couldn't be more proud, more elated for them! What bothers me though is the commentators and their reactions; Can you believe it, guys from the Rock going for gold? Who would have thought it?

I would! I believe it!

Newfoundland forever!!!

Santa visits Kindergarten!!

On Friday we had a Christmas party in Kindergarten. Both the English and French Ks sang together and then Santa surprised all the kids and parents before we dug into some holiday treats and had time to connect with each other. It was a magical day and Santa was visibly jolly and loving. I always used to wonder if my dad and Santa were friends :-)

The calm before the storm of snowboots...

I took this photo outside my classroom a few mornings ago. It was 7:30am, quiet and still and filled with anticipation. Little voices, exclaiming excitedly, "Il neige Mme Davidson!" There is nothing better than days filled with snow and laughter, when the kids are so thrilled with it all! I can't help but remember when I was 5 and how the snow was so high we built forts and tunnels in our backyard and went out at night with flashlights. Those memories are priceless!

Diary of a Kindergarten Teacher

Today I took my wonderful Kinders to see Jillian Jiggs and the Secret Surprise, based on the charactor Jillian Jiggs, created by beloved Canadian author Phoebe Gilman. It was one of those beautiful, this is why I teach, moments. All the young faces-smiling and entranced. Jillian is such a fun, energetic charactor and all children seem to relate and love her. She's always been my favourite!
So organizing booster seats and rides for 22 kids was totally worth it! Our first field trip was a total success!
Tomorrow they get their first report cards. Another milestone!
:-) A few photos of my classroom to share as well....
